Google Thinking Subscriptions

from the say-what? dept

As Google is looking to improve their bottom line they’re talking about all sorts of ideas for ways to make money. They’re now looking at the possibility of charging subscription fees for some vertical searches. It’s clearly still in the discussion phase, but I wonder how the Google-faithful would react to such a thing. Most of them wouldn’t ever notice, because they’d still be doing their basic searches. Of course, I find this whole thing amusing, because back when KP and Sequoia invested in Google, I remember them saying that there was a clear cut business model that would blow everyone out of the water. Seems like whatever that business model is, it didn’t work quite as well as they expected.
