Web Services Scooped By 1998 Patent

from the a-bump-in-the-road dept

Mike Lohse writes “CNET reports that a 1998 patent outlines and predates these “new” web services such as Microsoft’s .NET and Sun’s iPlanet. Charlie Northrup filed his patent application in 1994 for “Access Method Independent Exchange” which talks about running software on multiple platforms over a network.” Of course, who knows if this matters at all. I would imagine that if he makes enough noise some of these companies will throw a little money his way to keep him quiet.
