Remember Fair Use?

from the the-entertainment-industry-would-like-to-forget dept

A column talking about how the entertainment industry would completely get rid of the concept of fair use if they could. It discusses historical attempts to limit what people could do with audio cassettes and VCRs, and points out that in each case, once the entertainment industry finally gave up (or lost a lawsuit), the technology actually helped them more, by creating more interest. It still amazes me that the entertainment industry as a whole can be so short sighted about things like Napster, and really believes they can just sue everyone out of existence.
