No Pop Ups On Google

Thank goodness for Google. It’s just a bit upsetting that I’m so surprised and so happy that a company has officially come out against popup ads. However, Google said today that (as we all know already) pop up ads are simply annoying and they’ll have nothing to do with them. Google wins points for realizing that pissing off your users is no way to run a business. Why so few businesses understand that concept is beyond me. Contrast that with Yahoo who has stated publicly that their ads are not yet intrusive enough and you can see the different cultures at work.

Popup and under ads are the single biggest nuisance on the Web. I have stopped going to ABCNews.com altogether because of it and the day Yahoo starts popping them up on My Yahoo! is the day I stop using that service…
