You Have The Attention Span Of A Goldfish
from the now-click-away dept
I love reading these random “studies” about what horrible things surfing the internet is doing to our brains. The latest is one saying that surfing the web hurts our attention span. Apparently, it cuts the amount of time we can focus on any one thing down to 9 seconds at a time – which is the equivalent (they say) of a goldfish. That’s funny, I used to think “multi-tasking” was a good thing. Suddenly, it turns out to mean we have the brain capacity of a goldfish. Honestly, I don’t think it’s an attention span issue, but a question of the quality and relevency of the content – combined with people multitasking, and dealing with slow internet connections.
