Intercarrier BS

from the play-nicely dept

Today, the four Canadian wireless carriers launched intercarrier SMS as a group. They chose one vendor that seamlessy links each of their networks for a consistent user experience regardless of network (of course some users maybe limited by older phones). US carriers could learn a thing or two from this coordinated effort. The top five carriers have launched (or are in the process of launching) intercarrier-SMS – but it’s hardly seamless. More than anything it makes sending easy; replying to incoming messages is spotty at best. What’s the point of that? SMS will only generate significant revenue when people are able to exchange messages easily.
