I'm Not A Dot Com, You're A Dot Com

from the these-are-not-the-dot-coms-you-are-looking-for dept

A pretty funny article in Wired in response to the report from earlier this week that 80% of dot coms in SF will fail. They went out to get the reaction from those dot coms that are likely to fail, and they found something interesting. All the dot coms are gone already! No one would admit to being a dot com. They might admit they’d started as one, or that they still had a dot com in their name, but really, they’d changed their business model and they were fine. However, the other guys were surely in trouble. Of course, no one could point out exactly who these other guys were. No wonder they’re so likely to fail.
