Road Runner Takes On AOL
from the they're-the-same-company dept
And people wonder why AOL and Time Warner haven’t seen any of the “synergies” of their merger. Maybe it would help if they actually tried to find some. Here’s a Wall Street Journal (republished at MSNBC) article about how AOL and Road Runner are competing for broadband subscribers. Both companies, of course, are owned by AOL Time Warner. AOL has been desperately trying to figure out a way to make people sign up for broadband access. Road Runner is looking for ways to add more content to their offering. They’re owned by the same company! Why are these divisions not a single division? Right now, they’re even competing with each other for access to other Time Warner content. It’s pretty difficult to realize synergies if you leave everything completely separate.

Ack
It makes sense to merge them, but if AOL merged with Road Runner in any way, shape or form I would be off Road Runner in a second.
