Wal-Mart Backs Away From DMCA Claim

from the public-pressure dept

Not all that surprising considering the public outrage, but Wal-Mart is backing away from their DMCA claim against FatWallet, following FatWallet’s decision to fire back at them earlier this week. Chances are that it was just a clueless lawyer at Wal-Mart who didn’t realize the backlash this would expose them to. Of course, it’s still a good example of how the DMCA is very easily misused. The other retailers involved haven’t responded yet, and FatWallet’s lawyers say they still would like to collect legal fees from Wal-Mart for their frivolous filing.
