Power Lines Look Promising For High Speed Internet

from the oh-yeah? dept

It seems that every few months for the past five years or so, someone comes out with a story about how power line internet access is a viable alternative to cable or DSL. And, every time, nothing actually happens. I put this into the “I’ll believe it when my computer connects to it” category, but even the FCC is now saying that power line high speed internet access works. They say the only thing holding it back is the lack of a company to champion the service. The article makes it sound like there actually are a few technical hurdles as well, but maybe one day it will be another option.
