Porn Spam Is A Legal Land Mine For Employers

Declan McCullough, always on the lookout for weird legal consequences of things, is now pointing out that
companies may be liable for creating a “hostile work environment” if they fail to filter out unwanted porn spam from workers’ computers. As with any hostile work environment claim of sexual harassment, it tends to only apply after the company has been warned – and if there’s something the company can actually do about it. So, this article is making a pretty big deal out of nothing. It seems like a bit of a stretch to think that anyone would actually sue for such thing – though, you never know – especially now that this article has given lawyers a good reason to sue. Of course, any compnay that got sued for such a thing would certainly have plenty of incentive to try to track down the actual spammer and sue him in return…
