Floridians Get Millions In Microsoft Case

from the another-day,-another-settlement dept

Following on the Microsoft-California class action settlement from earlier this year, Microsoft has now settled with the state of Florida, as well. In California, the deal gave consumers vouchers towards any software (not just Microsoft). In Florida, the money will come as vouchers for hardware. Also, like the California settlement, Microsoft will provide similar vouchers to Florida schools for computer equipment. With the California deal, Apple protested that it didn’t really punish Microsoft at all, and, in fact, undercut Apple’s own efforts in the education market. When the vouchers are applied to hardware instead of software, it’s not clear if the same case can be made.
