Congress Lets Hollywood Complain

from the pirates-and-hackers-and-thieves,-oh-my! dept

In the latest Congressional hearings about Berman’s Hollywood Hacking bill, the committee only invited people from Hollywood to state their case. So, it’s no surprise that almost all of them complained about file sharing – trotting out the same old line that it’s no different from stealing a CD. It seems a bit counterproductive to only invite one of the affected parties – but apparently, that’s how Congress works. Exaggerate your point, and ignore the other side. Not exactly the smartest way to build consensus or to really solve problems. But, it sure seems to bring in the campaign contributions.
