Mighty IRIS To Save The Distributed Internet?
from the until-Hollywood-controls-it... dept
David writes “It appears that the basic tenants of FreeNet will live on through a governement-funded P2P framework developed under the wings of IRIS – the Infrastructure for Resilient Internet Systems. Commonly requested data is duplicated distributed through myriad nodes. Requests for data then face multiple points for success. Uncertain as to whether this system will “swarm” data (pulling partial file contents from multiple hosts at once)… but this is good stuff. Other businesses working on this include Uprizer (from a FreeNet founder), RedSwoosh and others.” It will be interesting to see how far this gets before Hollywood gets their personal politicians to freak out about it.
