Is Palladium Getting A Bad Rap?
from the a-taste-of-their-own-medicine? dept
Well, it appears that Microsoft is getting a taste of their own medicine, and not enjoying it too much. They’re now accusing people of putting out FUD concerning their hastily renamed Palladium project – which they now refer to as the incredibly difficult to remember Next Generation Secure Computing Base (or the unpronoucable: NGSCB). Ever since Palladium was announced, people have pointed out how it can be abused by content providers who try to “lock down” their content. Microsoft says it’s all a lie, and people need to look at the details of what they’re trying to do. I certainly believe that Microsoft isn’t nefariously trying to sneak some sort of system in that they honestly think will harm users. However, I do agree with those who point out that Microsoft clearly hasn’t thought through some of the “unintended consequences” of the technology.

Microsoft lie? Surely not!
That couldn’t be the same Microsoft that claims they’re innovative and they’re not a monopoly. Sorry, the last thing in the world I would consider is letting MS control my computing environment at their whim.
