People Deleting MP3s, Sharing Less… But Hating The Recording Industry More
from the but-are-they-doing-anything-about-it? dept
A new study has come out saying that, thanks to the RIAA suing everyone they can find, many people are deleting mp3s from their hard drives and using file sharing programs less. However, they also have a lower and lower opinion of the recording industry. That’s all well and good, but for as much as they hate the recording industry, if they’re still going out and buying the same major label music, the recording industry doesn’t really care. This is, of course, short sighted, because that hatred of the recording industry means that they’re probably willing to jump ship should a reasonable alternative show up. In the meantime, though, the RIAA will declare this as a victory.

No Subject Given
People need to stop whining and complaining and just put their money where their mouth is.

If the artists gave a sh1t about their fan’s opinions, they would dump the record companies and distribute their music in digital form via the internet.
Oh, and without copy protection (AAC/WMA) and crappy (iTunes) software please?
Re: No Subject Given
iTunes is not crappy – it is by far and away the best player I have used. yes, it is a little bit of a resource hog, but so what. It plays MP3s fine and has never mentioned copy protection to me at all….
ones not settling
I read today that of the original 261 legal complaints that the RIAA filed, only 52 of the defendants have settled. Is there any kind of source that tracks what’s going on in those cases?
