3DO Commercial Pulled Due to Snuggles Likeness
from the heh-heh-heh dept
Okay, this one is just funny. 3DO recently released a game called Battle Tanx: Global Assault, and if you saw the commercials you’d be confused too. They show a teddy bear that is engineered to be better, faster, and stronger, and then it gets run over by a tank. It’s a very weird commercial. However, it’s no longer going to be seen on TV, because apparently, the teddy bear they used, resembles the Snuggles Teddy Bear which is, of course, trademarked. The folks at Unilever, it seems, didn’t want people to think their bear supported a game that claims it includes such features as “children are kidnapped, cities destroyed and violence abounds.” The commercials, though, are viewable at this site.

Battle Tanx Commercial
The reason the bear looks like the snuggles bear is intentional. The first commercial for the the orginal “Battle Tanx” game started out as a parody of the snuggles commericial and the bear got run over.
