Robo Olympics Reflects Cultural Differences
from the surprising?--nope dept
There have been a lot of stories about the Robo Olympics, but the one I found most interesting is this article from the BBC looking at how the robots reflect the cultures they came from. There are a variety of robotic competitions, and robots from certain areas of the world tend to excel in the types of competitions that are most closely associated with that area. For example, the soccer/football robotic competition was dominated by European robots. The sumo wrestling competitions were won by Japanese robots. What about the Americans? It seems we’re really good at smashing things. Sounds about right.

The big fat robots that are really good at smashing soccer stadiums into pieces?
Offshore Robots
I heard that the Indian robots do the same thing as the American robots, but for a lot less money.
Re: Offshore Robots
Thats right, but they dont do it here, they do it in india against indian robots because the americans are unemployed and have sold their robots for scrap metal for food.
