How To Combat Click-And-Paste
from the getting-creative dept
Apparently school teachers sick of students simply going online and “click-and-pasting” their writing assignments are trying to get more creative in their assignments to force students to stop plagiarizing. They’re doing things like requiring students to use certain words or phrases in their writing, or even requiring all writing assignments be done in class – away from the computer. I wonder if this will impact the writing skills of that generation – since they won’t get the same variation and openness in assignments that previous generations received. Of course, I would think that the internet also would let teachers open up different means of writing and communications to push children to learn things that older generations didn’t have the opportunity to – such as writing content for email lists or websites.

Have the kids turn in WRITTEN papers instead of computer generated and at least you’ll force the kid to read it while they rewrite it.
Man I grew up in the wrong century.
