Restaurants Discover Technology
from the non-techies-using-technology dept
Today seems to be “non-techies using technology” day, as we’ve had a whole series of posts that fit into that category. The latest is about how restaurants are discovering that technology can improve their bottom line and the customer experience at the same time. Many restaurants seem to be experimenting with basic CRM type software that lets them note the favorite food/seating/whatever information about regular customers so they can be treated with extra attention. One restaurant even goes so far as to only stock a certain drink when they know one of their regular customers will be at the restaurant. Other technologies include wireless ordering devices (something we discussed just last week) and handheld devices that contain wine lists with detailed information about the wine and suggestions on what types of food go well with each wine. Nice to see more businesses realizing that basic technology can help them out in many ways.
