Pointcast Sale Official

from the end-of-a-brief-era dept

The Pointcast legacy sold for only $10 million in the end (other news stories peg the actual price closer to $7 million). Idealab is going to combine it with eWallet, and claims they’re going to produce some new products out of Pointcast. I’m not quite sure how that’s going to work. The story linked above has a nice little summary of the rapidly falling valuation of Pointcast. One note: I like how the author explains that if they had sold one sixth for $20 million, sources say that Pointcast would have been valued for $120 million. Not to make fun of the reporters or anything (of course not), but it’s interesting to see they need “sources” to multiply $20 times 6.
