Anti-Spyware Group Falling Apart As Vendors Protest Spyware Inclusion

from the nope,-sorry,-not-for-us dept

It looks like an anti-spyware group is only going to be left with companies that have known histories of offering up spyware. After the group admitted some companies that are well known purveyors of spyware, some of the bigger name anti-spyware companies are leaving the group. Even one anti-spyware firm, who was getting slammed for signing a deal with an adware company to lets its software go undetected, has decided to leave the group, saying it’s no longer viable. Perhaps if they didn’t lead the trend towards weakening definitions on spyware, the group still would be a bit more viable.
