Microsoft Making Encarta Into Wikicarta? Not Quite
from the wikipedia-puts-the-pressure-on dept
Microsoft’s Encarta encyclopedia project often seems to be forgotten in all of the various arguments over Wikipedia, but it appears that they’re feeling a bit of the Wikipedia-induced heat. They’re going to now make it easier for people to suggest changes to Encarta entries, if they feel they’re wrong. Of course, those changes will still be reviewed by an editor, so it’s not really wiki-like at all — but that won’t stop the press from making the connection. It’s just that Encarta is making the “feedback” functionality a little more prominent and hoping that this allows them to catch some of the Wikipedia hype wave.

Encarta vs Wikipedia
This is a good move by Encarta, but I think it’s too little too late.
