UK Spam Laws Just As Useless As Expected
from the well-that-did-nothing dept
When the UK passed their anti-spam law a few months before the US did CAN SPAM, plenty of people pointed out that it was too little, too late… and too lame. The biggest problem was a huge loophole that let spammers freely spam business email addresses — and gave the job of determining what was a personal address and what was a business address to the spammers. With that in mind, is it any surprise that the law has been basically useless? Not a single spammer has been punished and the law has been in place for over a year. Just as in the US, it appears that this law was passed so that politicians could claimed they stopped spam rather than actually doing anything about the issue of spam.
