Control Computers With Body Language

from the shake-that-booty dept

We’ve seen keyless keyboards that record finger motions to detect keystrokes. No reason to stop with finger motions, so the next step is full-body gesture detection. As one would expect, this kind of interface is showing up for video games at first, but interestingly, there’s also software that lets TV weather forecasters control “blue-screen” maps and weather displays with gestures. Maybe if gesture interfaces really catch on, we’ll all be using IT sign language. But given that mouse gestures haven’t even caught on, gesture interfaces really have to overcome the significant hurdle of either creating a set of standardized gestures or being easy enough to use that no standard gestures are needed.
