NY Times Realizes That Mobile Phone Bans Are So Last Millennium

from the keep-up dept

There have been a bunch of tech stories in the NY Times lately that have seemed… well… a bit behind the curve. For example, they recently discovered both the concept of “shuffle” on the iPod and the already ubiquitous USB flash drives (just months after discovering USB itself). This time, though, it looks like they’ve discovered a trend long after the backlash to that trend has already hit and a counter trend has started. That’s right, the New York Times has just noticed that schools have canceled their mobile phone bans. Of course, most people noticed that years ago, and already the trend has gone in the other direction, as schools have felt the need to overreact and start banning camera phones. Maybe the Times will tell us all about it next year.
