Blame The Internet For Making People Uncontrollably Horny

from the well,-it-could-be-worse... dept

It seems like there are some psychologists who simply have to come up with random reasons to blame the internet for just about everything. The latest is that some German psychologists are suggesting the internet is to blame for some people having uncontrollable sex obsessions — though, they can’t figure out how big a problem it really is because not too many people seem to be complaining willing to admit they have a problem. They psychologists say this isn’t an inborn behavior, but one that is learned from constantly visiting online porn sites and sex chat rooms. It makes you wonder how they determine the cause and effect here. How would they know such things aren’t “inborn” or caused by other issues, which are then brought out by the easy access to porn and chat rooms? It seems a little too easy to simply blame the internet for the issues, rather than get at the real cause of whatever problems these people have.

5 billion pre-Internet

Gosh, how did the world get so overpopulated before the Internet made us so horny? I was a teen before the ‘net and was plenty horny. This article just seems like another interest group trying to whip people into a flenzy… perhaps to convince more people to pay for a year of therapy to cure this disorder. As far as why people are doing what they are, they haven’t even considered cause vs. effect, a basic part of behavioral study. Maybe the ‘net just allows an easier outlet for horny urges that were otherwise harmfully pent up.

Re: 5 billion pre-Internet

I lost my husband after 6 months of marriage to the world of cyber sex, webcams and real women on Adult Sex Finder Sites. He is totally out of control and doesn’t even see it. I, of course left and he is juggling 15-20 women currently to get his needs met. I believe it is some control issues, obsession and safe die to not having to participate on an emotional level. Where can I go to understand what happened and get more clarification?
