Searching For Porn Is So Last Millennium: Today's Searchers Search For Deals

from the so-it-goes... dept

An article on a new study about search suggests that people aren’t searching for as much porn as they used to, but rather are searching for e-commerce. It’s not clear if the actual stats really support that conclusion. What they found is that, as a percentage of searches, searches for porn has decreased. It doesn’t indicate on an absolute scale what the impact really is. What it could mean is that people are searching for just as much porn, but are also searching for other things as well. Still, maybe people have simply found enough online porn for three or four lifetimes and are willing to cut back a bit, and focus on getting the best deals online instead. The study also found that people still don’t do very complex searches, but prefer to keep them short and only focus on the first page of results. This does, however, contradict some other recent studies that suggested the length of search queries has been slowly increasing.
