Politicians Like To Skip Commercials Too…
from the lucky-us dept
It’s unfortunate that so many posts are often about highly questionable bills or statements put forth by politicians, so we might as well note when one does something to stop poorly designed legislation. Following Hollywood’s desperate attempt to approve everything they want in one single bill — including making commercial skipping illegal — John McCain has put a hold on the bill, noting just how ridiculous the idea is: “Americans have been recording TV shows and fast-forwarding through commercials for 30 years. Do we really expect to throw people in jail in 2004 for behavior they’ve been engaged in for more than a quarter century?” The answer, unfortunately, is that the broadcast industry really has no problem with it at all. It appears that, rather than adjust their business model, the goal now is to punish everyone as much as possible for daring to adjust their entertainment habits.

McCain in 2008!
Re: John McCain
I swear to God that was exactly what I was about to type. It’s too bad about all the dirty politics that were played against McCain in 2000 or he might be our president now.
Re: Re: John McCain
Absolutely a rarity, a politician who speaks his mind.

… unfortunately, it’s an even greater rarity for a politian to have a mind… but fortunately, John McCain is one of them.
