Employers Misusing Monitoring Tech; Decreasing Productivity

from the sounds-familiar dept

Plenty of people have been saying it for years, but Microsoft has now put together a group of studies that show that all those companies emphasizing how much they use tech to monitor their employees are misguided. In micromanaging and spying on employees, they’re actually decreasing productivity, mainly by forcing employees to do things just to show that they’re working, rather than having them actually do their jobs. It’s amazing how far a little trust can take you. If an employee isn’t getting the job done, deal with that — you don’t need to see if they dotted all their “I”s and crossed all their “T”s in the last hour.
