FTC Says Spammers Aren't Explicit Enough
from the truth-in-labeling dept
It’s been over a year since the FTC mandated that any porn spam be labeled as “sexually explicit” as a way to legalize porn spam. Still, it appears that spammers didn’t take the easy way out and follow the practice. Instead, they kept on spamming porn spam without letting people know about it. Earlier this year, the FTC told some of them to stop, but as you might imagine, not many obeyed. So, now the FTC has begun cracking down on various porn spammers, convincing a bunch to settle and are filing lawsuits against the remaining spam operations. Still, isn’t it worth asking why porn spammers should be allowed to spam people even if they do include the “sexually explicit” label?
