USA Today Recognizes The TV Channel Is Over

from the time-to-insight-quickening... dept

Last month, we wrote about Ernest Miller’s assertion that the TV channel was an obsolete concept just waiting to die. Apparently that meme is spreading pretty fast, because USA Today now has a column suggesting exactly the same thing. There isn’t all that much that’s new in the USA Today piece, but it actually does a good job piecing together many of the related trends that we’ve been discussing here lately concerning the future of television and broadcast style content. It’s good to see this sort of thing appearing in a mainstream newspaper like USA Today, because, so far, it doesn’t seem like most TV execs have really done a good job thinking this stuff through. Having the idea spread more broadly will help them to figure it out (and then, of course, they’ll declare themselves geniuses for finally doing what plenty of people have known for years they should do).
