DirecTV Wants In On The Triple Play, Too

from the satellites-are-cool dept

DirecTV is reportedly eyeing wireless broadband (which apparently Red Herring believes is only possible with WiMAX), with the company’s CEO saying it’s looking at partnerships, alliances or investments in the space. DirecTV has been in and out of the broadband market before, reselling DSL for a while and tinkering with satellite net access as well. It’s not surprising to hear the company’s looking to wireless though, since the triple play that’s becoming the MO for TV and broadband providers has made cable providers and telcos — the only other options for broadband — its competitors.

Re: No Subject Given

I am really hoping that DirecTV goes the WiMax route. If it improves services and means faster Net access I am all for it. I am currently a Direcway subscriber..needless to say I am not really happy with this service..So I hope they can break a deal and get things going ASAP. Also if I remember right Vonage is making deals with WiMax as well.

Re: Re: dtv

the sooner DISH rockets blow dtv out of existance the sooner americans can have a positive tv experience. I mean what are they doing? Carey said that the loss to that is margional? 1% ya in your eye. I am on the inside and its a lie! we lose a little over 100,000 customers A MONTH to cable/internet. we are told to credit any amount the customer wants to save them. If they dont get internet yesterday that they are done for. Customers don’t care about any thing but saving money, they dont care that the quality is not as good as satellite, it is the mighty dollar that speaks. Sorry to ramle, just a mole, a splinter cell, on the inside and am completely DISCRUNTLED! If you have dtv stock then sell it because we are about to capsize!
