Some Things Not To Say To Customers After Your Board Is Accused Of Spying…

from the just-saying... dept

Obviously, there’s not really much good for HP to say following all of the stories about how it spied on board members, employees, journalists and random others (including accessing their phone records, as well as potentially following them and trying to install spying software on their computers). However, you would think that someone in HP’s marketing department might have considered that with so much attention on “spying,” the central focus of the CEO’s latest talk might not want to be on how the company plans to get better at “listening” to customers. At the very least, it leaves them open to a few jokes…

Govt does it all the time to find leaks…”Shrug”.

Did she fuck over customers? Nope

Not saying it wasn’t sneaky and shitty, but “Shrug” she had a leak *I might ask why no one is pissed off about the leaker, or even what was leaked, but then, well, people are stupid in general, so I guess it’s pretty understanding why no one wants to know the “why” of it all.

She did the only thing she could to find out who was leaking information. Depending on the information leaked, that could be considered industrial espionage. Being that HP is a pretty big fish in a small pond, that isn’t exactly a petty action.

I can’t say either way since I don’t know what the extent of the leak was.

She did what she thought was right, took a chance to find out what was going on, it backfired and she fell on her sword.

People flipping about this is comperable to the muslims getting frisky because of something the pope said…….

I’ve read all the details… and have a lot of knowledge of the details…and “shrug” all I can say is B F D . It’s all a lot to do about nothing. Just giving the imbaciles at the press more headline crap to talk about… and many imbaciles like you another horse to jump on because you don’t have much of a life.
It’s just like what Anonymus said…it’s just like the reaction of Muslim extremist’s to the popes comments. A bunch of worthless idiots..who look for any platform…to promote there self-indulgent hatred and ignorance. Be nice if they all got off the planet !

Anonymous Coward, which would you prefer: a big-brand computer company being run by someone who instigated illegal eavsdropping and breaches of personal security while you find out exactly what was leaked (which by its very nature – leaked information – isn’t supposed to be known); or would you rather oust the person who has the gall to do this, instead placing a more suitable person in the chair ASAP, then maybe find out about what was leaked?

Get some privacy, man!

If you want your privacy, buy yourself a farmhouse in the middle of a 100 hectare lot, lock yourself in your closet, and jackoff. There, youv’e got your privacy. If you are going to spill beans over a network you don’t own, knowing full well that everyone for GWB to your autie May can easily get the records and/or listen in to your conversation, you are asking for the trouble.

The REAL issue here isn’t that Dunn got the records – it is that she got the records SO EASILY! And you can thank all of the companies you deal with on a daily basis for that. Don’t like them, kill all your telephone services and speak to people in person. And whisper. Very softly. Nothing is private in this day and age. Get used to it. “It takes a village – watching every move you make.”
