Public Enemy to launch entire album on Web
from the Fight-the-power dept
As they said in that crossover-classic “bring ‘da noize”, ‘What you wanna do, rap is not afraid of you’. They continue to prove it: $8 for the downloadable album (in AT&T’s a2b format), or get a CD for $10, and either purchase includes — free of charge — a little “FU” to the recording industry. If memory serves, CNBC put the wholesale price of the average CD at $10.50 4 years ago (with COGS including artwork/liner notes at 55 cents!), so interesting to see a ~20%+ discount to wholesale.

That’s still 8$ for a cd and thats still too much.
i’m disappointed with this Secure Music garbage – its AT&T and eventually corporations will control the artists by this means too.
I wouldn’t fall for this stuff, same stuff different package.
