The Weakest Link

from the social-engineering dept

An investigation has been launched into a possible betting scam in the UK, centered on the finals of reality TV shows where bettors made more than 100,000 pounds after a BT employee with access to the voting database leaked the results before they were announced on air. The allegations serve as a reminder that no matter how much security technology a company implements, it’s only as secure as its least scrupulous employee. These sorts of allegations are nothing new, having popped up time and time again on multiple shows. These latest allegations won’t do anything to dissuage skeptics who believe the shows are rigged, but then again, would anybody really care?
