We Were Wrong To Take You Offline… But Stay Offline
from the the-way-of-the-recording-industry dept
Last month when music publisher Warner/Chappell “apologized” for taking the pearLyrics app offline, we noted that the apology was extremely weak — and nowhere did they say anything about having the app come back online. The exact sentence was: “However, it’s not clear if pearLyrics is coming back online — and W/C made it clear that it’s still not thrilled with the idea that lyrics sites somehow “undermine” accurate lyrics.” We had hoped it was just W/C being a reluctant apologizer, but Boing Boing is reporting that pearLyrics is still offline and is waiting (way too patiently) to hear back from W/C about whether or not it’s okay to go online again. This, of course, is ridiculous, since pearLyrics isn’t doing anything other than searching for lyrics — a completely legal action.
