Korean Carriers Go All Hollywood

Following similar earlier moves by rival SK Telecom, South Korean operator KTF has made an investment in a film company there. KTF gets the rights to all the film company’s movies to show across its various networks, illustrating the vertical buyouts to secure content in the country that we’ve pointed out before. It’s still an odd strategy from the Western perspective, particularly as a lot of efforts to closely tie together exclusive content and technology haven’t been runaway successes.
