Palm Doesn't Like Palm OS, In Regular Or Linux Flavor?

After deciding to ditch its namesake OS in favor of Windows Mobile for its next Treo device, there are rumors that Palm is now working on a line of Linux-powered feature phones. The Linux news isn’t a big surprise, but it’s supposedly Linux from Wind River, rather than the Linux version of Palm OS that PalmSource has been talking about for a year, but still isn’t ready for market. If true, this would be another sign of Palm OS’s walk into irrelevance. Palm OS’ lack of multi-tasking has long been held up as its main drawback in the smartphone space, but PalmSource’s plan to replace it with a more powerful Linux version has dragged on far too long, costing it valuable traction to Symbian and Windows Mobile.
