Miami And L.A. Cellphone Users Talk The Most

In a recent survey by Verizon Wireless, Miami and Los Angeles topped the rankings of the cities where cellphone users use their phones the most, based on number of calls per day. In Miami, the average is 298 calls made or received per month, where Angelinos come in with 260/mo. The top 5 included: Detroit, El Paso, and Las Vegas. While the East Coast’s low numbers were explained by bans on driving and yakking, there was no explanation why MIA and LAX came out on top. I’d suggest, based on the list of top 5, that there might be a correlation between % immigrants in a city and the number of calls, these two cities clearly have high latino populations, and there were correlation, it would have marketing ramifications.
