Open Spec For PTT Completed By OEMs

Terminal vendors Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia and Siemens mobile announced the completion of a jointly developed GPRS push-to-talk specification today. The spec will hopefully make inter-carrier and roaming interoperability a reality, meaning you will be able to use PTT services between different carriers, and when you are traveling. Now, we just have to wait and see if carriers adopt this open philosophy, or whether they build walls around their subscribers, as they so often do. I almost always consult in favor of interoperability, since it grows the entire market and overshadows the costs.
