MMS Your Way Out Of Jail

People have all sorts of reasons for complaining about picture phones and MMS, but over in Norway, they’re apparently afraid that prisoners with smuggled camera phones are figuring out ways to MMS themselves right out of jail. At least that seems to be the tone of the article explaining the MMS fear in prisons. It turns out that prison officials are mostly worried that camera phone toting prisoners will send pictures of security equipment and buildings to outsiders. I’m certainly not suggesting that prisoners should be carrying around camera phones, but this article makes it sound a lot worse than it probably is. For all the photos you can take inside a prison, it’s the escaping part that’s really difficult. The article certainly doesn’t have a single example of a prisoner making use of MMS to get himself out of jail.
