Priceline to get into Consumer to Consumer Auctions

from the ah-to-have-patents dept

Priceline is apparently gearing up to use its patents to move into consumer to consumer auctions and to take on eBay. It’s an interesting concept, using the reverse auction for consumer goods. Basically, the way I assume it would work is if I’m looking to buy a used stereo I put in the specs I’m looking for, and the price I’m willing to pay. The “seller” can then look and see if he has something that matches what I want, and if he wants to accept my price. The question, though, is why sellers would use this instead of an eBay, where they’re more likely to get bid up higher.
