DailyDirt: Wearable Technology
from the urls-we-dig-up dept
The textile industry seems like a field that’s pretty difficult to revolutionize. Sure, there are new fashions every season, but it’d be pretty surprising to see a completely new material displace cotton. Still, there are tons of researchers out there working on ways to improve all kinds of textiles. And it’d be great to see some cool, new materials that could also be worn someday, even if these fabrics never make it into “loooots of t-shirts.”
The world’s first dress that can purify the air is named “Herself” — and probably needs to be washed a lot. So. Many. Possible. Fart. Jokes. [url] Spray-on clothes sound like a good idea — especially if you get to rip them off like The Hulk would. But the clothes probably won’t look so great, unless you’re also ripped like The Hulk. [url] Incorporating particles into carbon nanotube yarns could make some pretty cool fabrics. The possibility of a battery made from fabric sounds really interesting, but if it’s made from a lithium-ion battery, it’ll need to be fire-proof, too. [url]

I liked better the other video with the girl being sprayed.
What about very lightweight bullet proof or very hard to destroy clothes that aren’t very expense.

Hmm. Your comment makes me wonder if there’s a wearable kind of reactive armor….
The advantages of wearable computing. … Like any technology, wearable computing extends the reach and capabilities of a person

Wearable technology
It is amazing how quickly the wearable technology trend is catching on! The New York Times just did an article on it, the BBC had a special report, and they are even using Smart Shirts on TV in Royal Pains! It’s a great time to be alive! Gumballtech just switched over to reporting on wearable technology too and I’ll say it’s just at the right time!
