Buffalo Spammer Arrested
from the taking-down-the-spammers dept
Last week, Howard Carmack, known as the “Buffalo Spammer” was told by a court that he owed Earthlink $16 million for his spamming activities. Today, those might be the least of his problems, as he’s been arrested in New York and charged with four felony and two misdemeanor charges, mostly for identity theft. This is apparently the first charges filed in New York under their new identity theft law. Famed NY Attorney General Eliot Spitzer (who has gone after spammers before) is hoping that Carmack will end up in jail, to go along with last week’s $16 million judgment.
