Cheap 3G

from the this-isn't-a-rerun-of-the-grinch dept

Sweden is the latest country to award licenses for its third generation wireless spectrum. However, unlike many other greedy European governments they decided to charge a nominal amount for the licenses to allow the operators to focus their funds on rapid infrastructure development (which should be both cheaper and available sooner than almost all other nations). The end result is that Sweden may well lead the way in Europe for both 3G adoption and reasonably priced services.
