Degree In Mobile Phones

from the seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time dept

It seems that Auburn University is now offering a degree in wireless engineering. This seems like a fairly specialized field, and I wonder if there’s really much benefit to being a “wireless” engineer over just a regular electrical engineer. It certainly limits where you can work afterwards. Admittedly, wireless is becoming a bigger and bigger part of technology these days, but I’m not sure why anyone would need such a specific degree when they could learn about wireless technologies while getting an electrical engineering degree – and have a broader base to grow on.
