Here’s another one that’s just plain ridiculous. For a ton of money (of course the price is being set by an online auction), you can buy time in a south pacific mansion that is set up to be self sufficient (in a luxurious way) from December 20 to March 31. So, if you’re scared that civilization is going to end (or at least hiccup), you can pay your $200,000 or so and live in luxury while the rest of the world riots. Of course, I’m not sure what happens after March 31 or once the looters discover the location of your Y2K paradise.
