I saw they only support Windows and that was enough for me.
When the majority of TechDirt readers are techies and probably use MacOS or even Linux, why offer a shady company that only supports a Windows product.
Yes, they support Android, but I’ll bet it was contract for hire and is also doubtful.
Thanks for researching their ‘happy customers’. Half off crap is still crap.

Saying “products featured do not reflect endorsements by our editorial team” really does not free you from the appearance of endorsing the product.
I know you are exploring ways to generate revenue, but so far, the majority of products “featured” have been crap.
I feel this really cheapens the experience here, and it bothers me every time I see it. It colors my view of the site overall in a negative way.
I hope you will reconsider continuing.

As do I. I want to see 10% off deals from reputable companies selling quality services and products, not 90% off deals from shady no-names selling stuff I wouldn’t try for free + S&H.

The daily deal is a fairly common thing these days. To be honest, I prefer those posts to more banner ads or a paywall. They also have sponsored posts, which I think have much more potential for harm to the reader. However Techdirt does a good job of clearly marking sponsored posts and daily deals, so I am still a happy customer.
Techdirt users are smart. Well, most of them, anyway (ahem antidirt ahem). I’m sure they can do their research like I did.
That being said, it might be nice to see a few deals that I actually would want. Even if they are modest discounts.

I bought the referb Nexus 5 for $200 and I figured I got the phone for that price. The Freedom Pop ‘service’ has been questionable. I had to upgrade the service from the 500MB monthly data to 2GB for $24.95×12.
So far, I still can’t get phone calls from my driveway up to my unit. My phone doesn’t even ring. I put that in SPRINT’s lap but Freedom Pop can’t do much to fix it.
If I could change carriers to Cricket and get AT&T’s network instead of SPRINT, I’d do it.
But I won’t ever by another product through TechDirt again. I hope the find another model.

why is there no details for this vpn? before anyone would sign up, surely they would want information to help make an informed decision, wouldn’t they? this could be the best or the worse out there but knowing at the very least whether it keeps logs or not needs to be known, as is a website for the product, not just a website that is marketing it.

It’s not a matter of opinion or taste. It is her job as a marketing professional to create these posts for Techdirt. The fact that the deals suck isn’t her fault unless she chooses them and has better options, but it’s still not spam because Techdirt solicited it.
When you use a vpn you are putting 100% trust in that company.
Gretchen Heckmann should be fired for endangering TD readers. Ad’s like this define TD as a corporate parasite with absolutely no consern for their readers safety/security.
They have TLS 1.0 on their sites ssl. they don’t even know how to do website security. People are suposed to trust them with packet transfer?
No one should buy this pyrimid scheam, unsustanable, proprietary, LOGGING, BS “service”.
