Egghead Declares Bankruptcy, Sells Out To Fry's

from the another-one-bites-the-dust dept

I remember going to the local Egghead store to buy software ten years ago or so. I also remember what a huge deal it was when Egghead made the surprising decision to shut all of their brick-and-mortar stores and only concentrate on online sales. Now, they’ve declared bankruptcy laid off half their staff and sold everything to Fry’s. It will be interesting to see what Fry’s does with them. Fry’s, the local computer/electronics chain store, that everyone loves to hate, had recently tried to buy out Cyberian Outpost, but those plans are now off. It would be funny if Fry’s, who never has had much (if any) of an online presence becomes an e-commerce powerhouse now.
